About Us

Maesknoll Shires was set up in 1986 by Kevin and Mandi Wide and over the years has been responsible for the breeding of many Shire Horses.

We have shown Shires all over the country from the smallest village shows to some of the largest county shows in Britain. We have had many successes in our showing career; including winning the Supreme Championship at the Bath and West Show with our homebred mare, Maesknoll Tudor Rose.

The Shires are kept at Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park, situated between Bristol and Bath, and during the winter they are housed in an American Barn which was constructed in 2006 along with an all-weather turnabout arena.

We have sold Shires nationally and internationally, including France, Germany, Sweden, America, as well as across the United Kingdom. At present we have taken a bit of a back seat in the showing world but our Shires are still on display to the public everyday at the Park.
